Being in the chemical industry means we need to be transparent about how environmental risk is being tackled and what we are doing to ensure we are part of the solution. As a family business, we care for our people, our planet and our legacy through the generations.
We measure our carbon footprint and are on our journey to becoming more sustainable. As an Environmental Choice New Zealand licensed premises, we are regularly audited to ensure we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact of our products and manufacturing process on our precious planet.
In 2022, we began our journey with Toitū Envirocare to help us accurately measure our greenhouse gas emissions and put in place strategies to reduce and offset our impacts. Our aim is to be carbon-zero and certified in accordance with ISO 14064-1 or PAS 2050.
We have started our sustainability journey by being an Environmental Choice New Zealand licensed premises and are working with Toitū Envirocare to be carbon-zero and certified in accordance with ISO 14064-1 or PAS 2050. We have a waste reduction programme in place reducing our plastic pouch inners and have established a range of environmentally friendly products.
One way we help our clients meet their sustainability needs is by reducing packaging waste. In a recent case study, we worked with a client to switch to a larger 1000ml soap pouch. We trained the team and upgraded their soap dispensers.
Over the course of one year we:
Every little bit counts and small changes can have a big impact. Talk to us about your sustainability goals so we can find a solution to meet your needs.
Each year we donate all cleaning chemicals used by the Life Flight team. Life Flight flies people to the urgent medical care they need. This dramatically improves their chance of survival and recovery.
“Thank you for the amazing support QualChem – your generosity keeps us in the air, saving time and saving lives 24/7 and ensures Life Flight remains a free service for our patients.”
In 2021 we became proud partners of Pūkaha, a non-profit national wildlife centre. Pūkaha has released 78 Whio (native blue duck) into the wild around the Tongariro/Whanganui regions over the last decade.
We hope to raise awareness for this iconic little bird so it can flourish for many generations to come and have created an amenities range in its honour. Our sponsorship contributes to the captive breeding programmes run at Pūkaha for all of their endangered birds, including the Whio.
